Partner organization: Underprivileged Children’s Educational Programs (UCEP)
Make a Difference Nepal in collaboration with Student Welfare club of K and K International College organized Health camp for the orphan children of UCEP orphanage located in Sano Thimi, Bhaktapur. The children were aged from 7-17. The program was coordinated by Saroj Katel and the check-up was facilitated by doctor and nurse from Korea-Nepal Friendship hospital. The main objective of this event was to conduct general health camp for children of UCEP Nepal.
This was also an opportunity for MDN to introduce our self with other organizations sharing similar motives. During this event, children were provided with health insurance card to the children which will provide them 50% discount when they visit Korea-Nepal Friendship hospital for future medical care. MDN supplied the necessary medicines for the children after the health checkup.
Key points:.
● Most of the children were diagnosed with respiratory disease like cough, cold and few with viral fever.
● Few were recommended to visit specialists as they were diagnosed with pre existing condition like hernia.
● Most of them are also not aware of common seasonal disease that occurs with seasonal changes and hygiene
It was a learning experience for MDN. This campaign was very could be considered successful as few children were diagnose with severe health problems. This campaign helped to identify the problem earlier making it easier for the children for further treatment.
UCEP is now open to idea about partnering with MDN in similar future endeavor. This has opened us an opportunity to identify new potential areas and community. MDN, through regular networking and partnership can expand the working sites and reach out to children, where most required. Also, MDN will look forward to work on orientation programs in lower income community on preventive measure to avoid seasonal common disease.
